Beyond the clouds
FICTION: 100 word microfiction inspired by the racoon dealer Miguel
That’s the post from Miguel S. that inspired this one, do give it a peek if you want to also be inspired. Now to the story…
Earth is heavy, I should know.
I watched them sweat profusely with each turn, their curses and profanity drifting with the breeze. Strangely enough, fear and shame show on their faces like ink blotches on blank canvas.
The sky looks serene like how I feel. No, how I've felt all these years. I couldn't give a damn about what they are doing. No, I hardly cared. My mind was never rooted, it was always afloat. Life was the anchor that dragged it back to dirt.
I watched till that dirt blocked my light.
Finally, I could reach beyond the clouds.
Authors note:
It's amazing how stories quickly pile up burying other stories in the process until they might just as well be in a grave. It’s something I struggle with from time to time; that and the pursuit of other hobbies. I like to think I'm not alone in that regard, I'm almost certain of it. Writers, in my opinion, are dreamers half awake after all.
What about you?
